Share
If you’re craving something sweet, creamy, and nostalgic, here’s how to make leche flan, one of the most loved Filipino desserts.
🛒 Ingredients
- 10 egg yolks
- 1 can condensed milk (300ml–390ml)
- 1 can evaporated milk (370ml)
- 1 cup sugar (for caramel)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
🔥 Step 1: Make the Caramel
In a llanera (or any heat-safe mold), melt the sugar over low heat until it turns golden brown.
Swirl the caramel to coat the bottom evenly, then set aside to cool and harden.
🥄 Step 2: Mix the Custard
In a bowl, gently mix:
- egg yolks
- condensed milk
- evaporated milk
- vanilla (optional)
⚠️ Tip: Don’t whisk too hard—avoid bubbles for a smoother flan.
Strain the mixture to remove lumps.
🍶 Step 3: Pour & Cover
Pour the mixture into the caramel-coated mold.
Cover it with foil to prevent water from dripping in during steaming.
♨️ Step 4: Steam the Flan
Steam for 30–40 minutes on low heat.
Check if it’s done by inserting a toothpick—if it comes out clean, it’s ready.
(You can also bake it using a water bath if you don’t have a steamer.)
❄️ Step 5: Cool & Serve
Let it cool, then refrigerate for a few hours.
To serve, run a knife around the edges and flip it onto a plate.
Leche flan is more than just dessert—it’s a staple at Filipino gatherings, celebrations, and family moments.
Sweet, smooth, and rich…
it’s a taste of tradition in every bite. 🍮✨
